Lapbooks! Check Out these Cool Projects!

Lapbooks

This is a place value lapbook project you can do with your class. Check out the details on my TPT website.
Here are some pictures of the final product.

Place Value Lapbook for the Common Core Classroom
(NBT.1., NBT.2, NBT3.)

This is a cute lapbook I created that uses really cute clipart purchased from Scrappin Doodle. Please download the preview file to see what the final product will look like.
I have included the following first grade Common Core Standards but I have also included place value pieces for those who teach hundreds as well.

Standards: Common Core Math NBT.1, NBT.2, & NBT.3

Understand place value:

MCC1.NBT.1 Count to 120, starting at any number less than 120. In this range, read and write numerals and represent a number of objects with a written numeral.

MCC1.NBT.2 Understand that the two digits of a two-digit number represent amounts of tens and ones. Understand the following as special cases:
a. 10 can be thought of as a bundle of ten ones – called a “ten.”
b. The numbers from 11 to 19 are composed of a ten and one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine ones.
c. The numbers 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 refer to one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine tens (and 0 ones).

MCC1.NBT.3 Compare two two-digit numbers based on meanings of the tens and ones digits, recording the results of comparisons with the symbols <, >, and =.

Directions:
I have included detailed explanations on each of the pages to explain how to incorporate these base ten pieces to create a lapbook. You can also look at the finished product to see what it should look like at the end. I used a file folder and folded it to make three sections. Then I added all the components include to display knowledge of NBT.1 (place value).

This unit was created for a first grade classroom, therefore, the sample only includes ones and tens, but I have included manipulatives up to one hundreds for the upper grades. I have tried to include multiple pieces of each picture so you should have enough and extra to complete this project.

Have fun!
Julie
